My experience with Richens Eye Center has been very disappointing. They have a horrible billing department who do not know how to submit services correctly to the insurance company. After providing my information at time of service, sending my information again when I received my first bill, and then resending 1 more time when I received a 2nd bill (and also calling to follow up multiple times), they told me they would take care of it each time. I expressed concern that my statement showed past due and told them I was worried about having issues with being so late and that they would send me to collections before we were able to get this resolved. The billing person confirmed that would not happen and that she would note my account to ensure this DID NOT happen. Well....a couple days ago we received a call from a collection agency. I never received a call from Richens directly and when I called to settle up (I was so fed up that I decided to pay on my own and deal with my insurance company on my own), I spoke with the SAME woman I had spoken with every time I called and she just told me that the service was performed 9 months earlier and the someone should have called me before sending to collections. When I asked her if this would appear negatively on my credit report, she said she didn't know and only the collection company could tell me that information. She took my credit card number and charged me $165 (including a $20 collection fee) that she said I owed. When I called the collection agency to find out more details, they said I only owed $120. Nice that Richens Eye Center gave very poor service, sent me to a collections agency, and ALSO overcharged me. Needless to say, I will never return and would not recommend Richens Eye Center to anyone.

I went in to see a dr. in early Jan.. I had a problem with my left eye. After he checked it,he wanted me to come back in three weeks to follow up and make sure it was clearing up. Since this was a follow up visit, I assumed that I would not be charged again for the same problem.NOT SO!! Richens apparently feels it necessary to get every dime out of their patients that it possibly can. I won't be using this facility again, and will be warning all of my friends to steer clear also, unless they like to be taken advantage of.

I loved my experience with Dr. Richens. I have been wanting to get my eyes corrected for a long time. I bike, run, swim and my eyes are very dry. Wearing contacts is the worst! My husband and I did this procedure for Christmas for each other. Best Christmas gift ever! couples that have surgery together stay together. I finally did it at the age of 46 and it's the best thing I've ever done! I would definitely recommend Dr. Sharon Richens and her staff they are friendly kind professional and easy to work with.
